Boston/Stowe (21st February 2015) - Day 10

The Ski holidays go so fast.  Location: Stowe, VT, USA Weather: Sunny Temp: -10°C It's going home time already, it's a long way to come for a weeks worth of skiing but damn was it a blast!  Even though I was ill for two days and missed out on some insanely cold runs on the mountains (not complaining) I loved every minute of it. Being on the snow again has really made me think about doing a season somewhere in the states!  So let's start the day!  I forgot to meantion in the last post which I did this morning, that I pretty much packed my case all last night! Go me right! I only had my backpack to back which 90% of it was tech and GoPro accessories.  With bags all packed we say goodbye to "The Stoweflake Inn" and head to Boston. About an hour or so way there we stopped off in a "Denny's" for some breakfast. Now for those of you who have not been to America or just not been to a Denny's before, it's kind of like a ch...

Last day of skiing!  Location: Stowe, VT, USA Weather: Sunny/Cloud Patches Temp: -8°C So let's start off by saying that I completely forgot to do this post last night, so I apologise if I forget some stuff!  Started the day off with some breakfast, we headed to a small bagel place called "The Bagel" funny that! I had a egg and bacon bagel which was decent enough although wasn't anything special.  After breakfast we headed to the mountains, as my dad had a bad chest he didn't want to make it worse by doing exercise in the cold so we took the car and got dropped off! (woohoo!)  Even though I said the temperature at the start was around -8°C it started of at around -20°C, so yeah a tad cold. But it did manage to warm up a little thought the day!  Snow conditions were good on spruce said but not as good on the other. Nice powdery and groomed in some places in spruse side, hard packed and ice on the other. But hey I managed to get that powde...

Pow days are good days! Location: Stowe, VT, USA Weather: Overcast/Snowing Temp: -10°C Woke up this morning to left over pizza, the breakfast of kings!  Not to much today about the morning, same old get ready for a day of skiing business, oh apart from the fact that my parents ordered breakfast to the room and it was super fancy compared to my cold boxed pizza. We headed to the mountain at around 10am, it was cold and snowing pretty lightly, it had snowed about 3 inches over night so there was a little bit of a blanket of snow around. The snow continued to fall throughout the day so the runs were nice and powdery.  Again not much to say about a ski day, the snow was perfect i mean who doesn't love a powder day?! The worst part about skiing today would have to be the lifts, crazy cold and i brought the wrong face/neck warmer. I would just freeze up at the top of the run and only just about warm up again at the end of it. Even though th...

Powdery Sunny Goodness! Location: Stowe, VT, USA Weather: Sunny Temp: -7°C So as you would start any day right is with a good old breakfast! Well i was planning on having the works! The real deal kind of meal to set me off right on this sunny day!  Wrong. I had some weird bacon and egg wrap with local cheese (I am not a cheese fan), so not what i wanted so not a great start to the day. We headed out quite late to the mountain today, around 11am. Saying that we skied though the lunchtime rush which was good, more slope for me! Dad wasn't in tip top condition today so took it easy! It was mostly me and my Mum together today, my Mum is not to familiar with the runs so i had to lean pretty much all day.  The conditions on the mountains were so good. Like so so good. There were a few hard packed patches but again its not ice so win!  Shot on GoPro Hero 3 Black I managed to snap a few more but they need tinkerin...

Its ski time 2 (This time i mean it) Location: Stowe, Vermont  Weather: Sunny/Cloudy Temp: -10°C  Im feeling much better (thank you for asking), although I'm writing this late at night when I'm tired and have to get up early again for more skiing action so i apologies in advance if this post seems a little rubbish!  The weather was pretty much perfect, i mean yeah the starting temp was around -22 but it warmed up! Oh i forgot breakfast! i had leftover pizza from last night. (Super interesting i know) Anyway, the snow was awesome although there was a few hard packed and powdery patches around but nothing you can't get your edges into!  We didn't spend too long on the mountain as i've managed to pass on my germy germs onto my parents, (best son ever!) We got a few hours in bare in mind that this was my first day so we all had to get our rhythm back! And yeah it didn't take long, one easy run and I'm back in the zone (Insert shade...

Boston/Stowe (15-16th February 2015) - Day 4+5

Day 4 Location: Stowe, Vermont Weather: Overcast/Snowing Temp: -16°C Its ski time! (maybe not) The morning of the 15th didn't start off to well for me, weather it was something i ate or there was a bug going around but all i know is that i was ill from something.  So there isn't really much to say for that 4 day in Stowe, unless you want me to go into detail about how much sleep i had and how sick i was throughout the day? (But i doubt you want to read about that.) I spent the entire day in bed in my PJs my parents went off skiing and went about their normal holiday business, again not much to write about when your lying in bed all day. My diet consisted of tablets and water. American TV sucks. Thats about it.  Day 5 Location: Stowe, Vermont Weather: Sunny/Windy Temp: -23°C So day 5 was a better start, feeling a lot better and was ready to hit the slopes (or so i had thought.) Raring to go we decided not to...

Boston/Stowe (14th February 2015) - Day 3

Today we set off for Stowe! Location: Boston, Massachusetts  Weather: Sunny/Cloudy  Temp: -12°  We had the afternoon left in Boston yesterday which we spent most of it in bars (I'm not complaining). Since there is a 5 hour time difference sleeping was a little odd, managed to wake up at 3am and then managed to get up at 6:30am which is around 11:30am in the UK. So kind of fits my sleeping pattern right down to a tee!  I managed to get up just as the sun was rising! Being me i managed to take a few snaps (few being lots) After I finished taking loads of photos we went down for a coffee (after a shower of course) thats where i managed to finish off the blog post that i was suppose to send out last night. We didn't hang around in the hotel for long, before I knew it we were out the door and back to the airport to get the rental car. We managed to get a Ford ...
